Requirement:  Kentucky Certification - Principal

 

Shall be an ambassador for Spencer County Schools and provide excellent customer service to our students, parents, and community.

 

Responsible for what teachers do in the classroom as are the teachers themselves.  Good leaders do not exist outside the context of good followers, and good followers do not exist unless they have the potential to be good leaders.

 

Primary task as a leader is to keep the entire school focused on the core business of the school, creating quality work for students, and to remove barriers that distract teachers from their focus.

 

Expected to be a leader of leaders within the school as well as a supportive member of the Superintendent’s administrative team.

 

Actions reflect that other schools and district level personnel are your allies united with him/her in a common cause.

 

A good leader develops potential in others; demonstrates leadership by identifying the talents of staff members and providing those individuals with opportunities to use those talents.   

 

Legitimizes decisions through disciplined discussions and informed dialogue with staff, developing the skill of consensus building. 

 

Uses the district and community as resources to improve student performance.

 

Builds a learning community at the building level through the pursuit of common questions, problems, and issues.

 

Honors the ideas of mutual respect, collegiality, trust, loyalty, and friendship.

 

Causes their school district to become engagement focused learning organizations. 

 

Embraces the idea of continuous improvement based on data analysis and informed concrete actions as a core value.

 

Fosters innovation.

 

Operates with the understanding that learning is the constant and time and support the variables. 

 

Develops systems for recruiting and hiring only the best teachers and staff members. 

 

Builds capacity with all staff members by focusing on the school/district vision.  Such a principal will demonstrate piercing clarity about how to produce the best long-term results.

Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations

Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
